Reno man sentenced to 5 years for assaulting teenagers on reservation

A Reno man has been sentenced to five years in prison with three years of supervised release for the 2023 attack on three teenagers on the Reno-Sparks Indian Reservation.

On Sept. 2, 2023, Roy Ramirez, 25, pistol-whipped a teenager in the face, hit a second teenager in the head with a pistol and pointed a firearm at a third teenager, according to court documents. Authorities say the second teenager was a 13-year-old child who suffered multiple non-life-threatening injuries.

Ramirez was on parole at the time of the attack.

Ramirez pleaded guilty to one count of assault with a dangerous weapon in Indian Country and one count of assault causing serious bodily injury in Indian Country.
