Ex-Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg pleads guilty to domestic abuse of estranged wife

SELKIRK, Scotland (AP) — Former Scotland rugby union captain Stuart Hogg has pleaded guilty to a charge of abusing his estranged wife.

Hogg, 32, appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday and admitted charges which accused him of shouting and swearing at his wife “in an aggressive manner”, as well as tracking her movements and sending text messages which “caused anxiety and worry.” in nature”.

Britain’s PA news agency reported that Hogg was taken into custody in February after police were called after Hogg was “shouting and swearing” and he was later released on bail, which prevented him from speaking to his wife or enter the family home.

Hogg, who plays for the French club “Montpellier”, is in the process of a divorce.

The sentencing was scheduled for December 5. ___
