On November 1, the Oxford Police Department arrested Timothy Hervey, 20, of Oxford, in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in the 500 block of Hurricane Lane.

On Oct. 31 at approximately 3:48 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home on Hurricane Lane. Investigators at the scene found numerous bullet holes in a car parked in the driveway, as well as shell casings and other evidence indicating a shooting. No one was injured during the shooting. Hervey was identified as a suspect shortly thereafter.

During the investigation, detectives learned Hervey was also a suspect in a recent burglary in the county. The Oxford Police Department obtained a search warrant at Hervey’s residence and executed the warrant, which led to Hervey’s arrest. During the search, law enforcement officers found a gun, the same as the one allegedly stolen. The gun and ammunition recovered at the scene matched the type used in the Hurricane Lane shooting.

Timothy Hervey is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center on charges of shooting and possession of a stolen firearm.
