MSNBC’s Vaughn Gilliard reports on the small turnout at Trump’s rally

Correspondent for NBC News Vaughan Gilliard was on the scene Monday for one of the former presidents Donald Trump final meetings. Covering Trump’s rallies for nearly a decade, he noticed significant changes in Trump’s size rally crowds.

Trump was scheduled to take the stage in Raleigh, North Carolina, at 10 a.m. Monday, but when Hilliard performed a live hit on MSNBC a few minutes past the hour, the candidate was not there. So instead, he took the audience on a short tour of the facility and talked about something new he saw:

I want to show you very quickly what this crowd looks like because Donald Trump is scheduled to take the stage at 10 in the morning. And ours Tony Butler will show you what this crowd looks like now. We’re looking at capacity, about 70 percent here. And for nine years — I’ll be Tony Mr. on the right — for nine years we’ve talked about the enthusiasm and the crowds that have come out to Trump rallies time and time again, even at his lowest points politically, including 2022. .

But interestingly, and I can’t tell you exactly why, but this last week we saw much smaller crowds. We were in Greensboro, North Carolina, only a few thousand people, in Macon, Georgia, only a few thousand people yesterday. What does this mean? After all, you can only discern so much of anything crowd sizes look like But it’s interesting that for the first time since I’ve been covering Donald Trump since 2015, we in the press are looking around wondering why there are fewer people than we’re used to.
