Former Scotland rugby union captain Stuart Hogg has pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges involving his estranged wife Gillian.

According to BBC Sports, during his appearance at Selkirk Sheriff Court, Hogg admitted shouting, using abusive language and being abusive towards his wife.

He also admitted that he repeatedly tracked her location and sent alarming messages.

The court was also told that on one occasion he sent more than 200 messages in just a few hours.

The court has now adjourned sentencing until December 5 and released him on bail pending further information.

The hearing also revealed that over a period of five years he had engaged in behavior which caused her fear or distress.

The level of fear was so high that his wife started having panic attacks. She also took advice from domestic violence services.

The court also accused him of monitoring his wife’s movements through the Find My Phone application.

He represented Scotland at international level, making his Test debut against Wales during the 2012 Six Nations Championship.

Hogg was named the Six Nations Player of the Tournament in 2016 and 2017.

The player announced his retirement from rugby union, but soon ended his career and signed a two-year contract with Montpellier.
