Demonizing cars will not help | PennLive Letters

Today, PennLive’s Pennsylvania podcast mentioned that Philadelphia will have more red light cameras, more speed cameras, and new SEPTA parking cameras (which were not authorized by the state assembly bill). Will it ever end?

There is never any mention of the best practices in development and enforcement that are used first, just go straight to the cameras. It’s meant to increase revenue, get people to stop driving, and make life miserable if you choose to get behind the wheel.

Demonizing cars is counterproductive because all modes of transport need to be seriously discussed. There also needs to be a discussion about getting people who use public transport, bikes and walk to start earning more money for using roads and pavements.

If you don’t have enough of a car, you can earn a lot of money to pay for transport, such as higher fares.
