BCSO Identifies Teen Arrested in Donut Trick-or-Treat Accident

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has identified a teenager arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and child injury in connection with the death of another teenager in a donut accident, an agency spokesman said.

Daniel James Krupalla, 17, was arrested and booked into the Bexar County Jail early Sunday morning.

Deputies arrived early Saturday morning at the hotel in the 900 block of Zigmont Road, located south of FM 1346 in eastern Bexar County, to report a crash.

When deputies arrived, they found six injured teenagers. One of them died,” the press service reported.

As of Monday morning, the Bexar County Medical Examiner had not identified the victim. However, the family identified him as Henry Casas Jr.

BCSO said Casas was ejected from the vehicle. It is currently unknown whether he or any of the car’s passengers were wearing seat belts.

Deputies identified Krupalla as the driver, who told investigators he and his friends were riding on the property with one of the passengers hanging out the back window when the car lost control and rolled over twice, the spokesman said.

Krupalla admitted to driving recklessly and named Casas as the victim, the spokesman said.

The other injured teenagers are expected to be OK. The parents of the two injured teenagers declined to press charges, the spokesman said.

Krupalla’s bond was set at $50,000 on Nov. 2, according to Bexar County court records.
