Stuart Hogg, the former captain of the Scotland national team, pleaded guilty to domestic violence

Former Scotland rugby union captain Stuart Hogg has pleaded guilty to domestic violence against his estranged wife, the BBC and Sky News reported on Monday.

Hogg, 32, appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court where he admitted being abusive towards his wife after regular outings with his colleagues.

He also admitted to sending excessive text messages and repeatedly monitoring his partner’s movements.

Hogg, who made his Scotland debut in 2012, has been capped 100 times for his country and represented Scotland at two World Cups. He also made two appearances for the British & Irish Lions.

He announced his retirement from rugby on the eve of last year’s World Cup.
