The protest was organized by the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) to express solidarity and protest against “Khalistan intimidation” and “anti-Hindu” hatred. Protests were also called at the Brampton temple and the Lakshmi Narayan temple in Surrey.

Peel Regional Police said in a statement that the individuals were arrested on criminal charges and “consensually” relocated to two different locations in the city of Mississauga. The police also said that their 21 Division of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and 12 Division of the Criminal Investigation Bureau will investigate the allegations.

“Today Peel Regional Police attended a demonstration at a place of worship in Brampton. The event was later moved to two different locations in the city of Mississauga. As a result of these demonstrations, three people were arrested and prosecuted for their actions. “Several illegal activities continue to be actively investigated by our 21 Criminal Investigation Division along with the 12 Criminal Investigation Division,” the police said in a statement.

India condemns the attack

Following the attack, India’s Ministry of External Affairs expressed deep concern about the safety of Indian nationals in Canada and asked the Canadian government to prosecute those involved in the attack.

“We condemn the acts of violence committed yesterday by extremists and separatists at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario. We call on the Canadian government to ensure that all places of worship are protected from such attacks. We also expect those who condone violence to be brought to justice,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement.
