A Zanesville man has pleaded guilty to felony assault involving a minor

ZANESVILLE – A 21-year-old Zanesville man arrested in September now faces five counts of aggravated assault after alleged incidents involving a juvenile victim.

Caleb P. Miller was charged on September 5. Three of the five original charges were felonies: aggravated assault in the second degree; third degree kidnapping; and fourth-degree strangulation. He also faces two counts of domestic violence, both first-degree misdemeanors.

He recently appeared before Judge Kelly Cottrill, where he pleaded guilty to just one count of felonious assault. The other four were released.

In a felony assault charge, the concrete floor was the weapon against the 17-year-old victim. All five counts involved the same victim. The date of the crime was August 28. Miller pleaded not guilty for the first time on September 24.

Miller’s case will now proceed to a pre-sentence investigation and a sentencing date has not yet been set. He faces 2 to 8 years in prison and 18 months to 3 years of post-release supervision.

Miller is being held in the Muskingum County Jail. His bail was set at $90,000.

Miller was represented by Columbus District Attorney Keith Edwards. The prosecution was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Michael Hughes.
