Another Twin Cities resident arrested after man stabbed to death in St. Paul apartment building

After a man was stabbed to death in his St. Paul apartment building on Sunday, police have arrested another resident of the building.

Officers responded to a report of an assault in the Summit-University area around 6:15 p.m. They were directed to the hallway of a building at 313 N. Dale Street, near Interstate 94, and found a man with stab wounds to his torso, said Sgt. Mike Ernster, a spokesman for the St. Paul Police Department.

The man was unconscious and barely breathing. Officers administered first aid to the victim until St. Paul Fire Department paramedics took over and transported him to Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police located the suspect at the apartment building and took him into custody, Ernster said. The apartment building is called Dale Street Place, which the website describes as “supportive housing for older people and people with disabilities.”

The 64-year-old suspect was booked into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of murder.

According to preliminary information, the two men had an argument that led to the stabbing, Ernster said. Police said they will release the victim’s name after it is confirmed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The man was killed on the 26th of this year in St. Paul. At this time last year, there were 28 of them.

The St. Paul Police Department has 25 homicides this year, as the department’s records refer to cases investigated by the city’s police department. There has been another homicide in St. Paul this year the metro police investigated.
