Child hit by car on A26 Tonbridge Road in Maidstone, between Tesco Express and Cherry Tree pub, discharged from hospital

A three-year-old child, who was hit by a car on a busy road, returned home from the hospital.

The incident happened on the A26 Tonbridge Road in Maidstone around 12.15 on October 16.

Officers and paramedics attended the scene and the child was airlifted to King’s College Hospital in London for treatment.

It is currently known that the boy’s injuries are not life-threatening, he has been discharged from the hospital.

Tonbridge Road was closed from the Esso Tesco Express area to the Cherry Tree pub until 3.30pm on the day of the incident.

Witnesses said the boy was crossing the road towards Hambledon Court when he was hit.

The driver stopped at the scene.

One woman said: “Both the child’s mother and the driver were distraught.”

It is understood that the police do not require additional witnesses.
