Deadly shooting under investigation in Elkhart County; One is dead, the other is seriously injured

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead and another seriously injured.

It happened around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, in the 700 block of County Road 3 North in Elkhart.

Elkhart Police Department officers arrived on scene to find two male adults suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, one victim, identified as Romulo Jesus Reyes Osuna, 33, of Elkhart, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation, which is ongoing. So far, there have been no arrests.
