“Ok I really need to know if that ‘I love you’ sign was scripted or if @kellymonaco1 threw it in there for us,” wrote X (formerly Twitter) @fangirl_810.

Monaco noticed the tweet and responded with four simple words: “It wasn’t scripted.”

Making a DIY ‘I love you’ sign is Sam’s signature move, so it was only fitting that Monaco gave her fans one last gift, supposedly sending her love for all the support over the years.

Sam McCall performed the most selfless act of her life when she agreed to become a liver donor for Lulu Spencer, knowing that the surgery’s chances of success were slim. Still, she believed that any sane person would have done what she did, as her loved ones thanked her for her sacrifice before the operation began.

The October 25 episode follows Lulu and Sam’s family and friends as they await updates on the surgeries and pray for a positive outcome. Everyone fears for Lulu’s life, but they feel that Sam will be fine.

Since August, the writing has been on the wall that Sam won’t be well, but Lulu will survive and come out of her four-year coma. After news broke that Monaco was being let go from the soap she’d called home since 2003, and that the character would be killed off, many fans knew deep down that Sam would be Lulu’s liver donor.

According to Monaco’s mother, Sam and Lulu’s surgery will take place four weeks after Monaco recorded her final scenes as Sam. Carmina Monaco thanked GH fans for supporting her daughter on Sept. 27.

“I want to take this moment to reach out to Kelly’s incredible fans and express my deepest gratitude for the unwavering love, devotion and support you have shown her throughout her time on General Hospital“, she wrote. “On this final day, just four days before the anniversary of her first episode on October 1, 2003, Kelly will close her dressing room door for the last time.”

Monaco herself has posted on social media about what happened behind the scenes at GH, but as of this writing she has yet to do so. Soap Central will keep you updated if Monaco does speak up.
