Shots fired are under investigation; the police are still on the scene

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) – An investigation is underway after two people were shot and wounded Sunday in Carterville, Ill.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Carterville Police Department was called to the 600 block of Grand Avenue on Nov. 3 for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds who were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Several agencies are still operating on site.

The sheriff’s office said it does not appear to be a random act of violence and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Ill. State Police have requested forensic assistance in this ongoing investigation.
