At least 95 arrested in Zimbabwe after anti -government protests

The power of Zimbabwei, who remained in custody on Tuesday, 98 people arrested for participating in demonstrations designed to demand that President Emmerson Mnangagwa would leave power.

Men and women were assembled in the capital of Harare during small demonstrations on Monday, and the decree took place during their pledge on April 10, the courts report.

A one-time veteran of the ruling Zanu-PF Party called the Protest Day from the deviation of the steps to keep Mnangagu, 82, in power above the end of its term in 2028.

Most of the 98 people who are in custody were among about 200 who gathered in the Square of Harare, where they threw stones on security forces, police said.

They chanted slogans, such as “enough” and “Mnangagwa should go.”

They contradicted the legislation against the violation of peace and participation in the meeting with the intention to promote violence in the public, police said.

The turnout on Monday demonstrations was limited, but shops, transport, schools and businesses were closed for the day when many said it was a protest for stay.

Police also arrested and briefly detained 10 reporters who covered the demonstrations, according to the South Africa Media Branch of Zimbabwe.

The journalist who interviewed the veteran who mobilized the demonstrations, blessed Gaza, has been in prison from February 24.

Gesa became a public face of dissatisfaction against Mnangagu, who took power in a coup in 2017 and was accused of creeping authoritarianism, which defeated political opposition, including in the long time of prison.

The former member of Parliament, Gaza stated that on Wednesday he would speak with a “decisive” address in the next course of action.
