Cowboys’ Dak Prescott reveals troubling details about new injury

The Dallas Cowboys suffered their fifth loss at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, falling 27-21. To make matters worse, star quarterback Dak Prescott left the game with what appeared to be a hand injury.

Subsequent reports indicated that Prescott was dealing with a hamstring injury, which seems to be a much bigger concern at this point. The Cowboys’ signal caller spoke to reporters about the injury, indicating he could be sidelined for more than half the game.

Prescott spoke to reporters, and Atheltic’s John Machota reported that the Cowboys linebacker said, “I felt something pull. I felt something I had never felt before.”

Prescott had to be pulled from the game with a hamstring injury, and it looks like the damage he suffered could lead to some downtime. This is just speculation, but hamstring problems are never easy.

The fact that Prescott also stated that he “felt something I’ve never felt before” is very disturbing. If he has a significant hamstring sprain or strain, he could be sidelined for several weeks.

With Prescott out, backup quarterback Cooper Rush took over. Rush threw for 115 yards and one touchdown in limited time.

The Cowboys have been in a bit of a mess lately, and Prescott’s injury couldn’t come at a worse time. The team is now 3-5 and will have to fight hard to get back into playoff contention.

The problem is that NFC is loaded by competing teams. A staggering seven teams now have positive results. Half of those teams belong to the NFC North. If the Cowboys want to compete for a playoff spot, they need to figure out how to win, and fast.

Prescott wasn’t the only player injured in the loss, as star wide receiver CD Lamb was sidelined with a shoulder injury. The offense was clearly different without two of its most important offensive pieces.

Starting running back Ezekiel Elliott was also a healthy scratch after being inactive for disciplinary reasons. Reports indicated that Elliott was distracted and not engaging with the team. His focus led to him not being asked to travel to Atlanta with the team.

The Cowboys seem like a mess right now, and losing Prescott in any number of games will make winning that much more difficult. Hopefully the injury he sustained is not serious, although more tests will probably be done.
