In Milwaukee, a shooting injured a 13-year-old boy; 2 is loaded

Two people have been charged in an Oct. 27 shooting that injured a 13-year-old boy on Milwaukee’s north side, but court records indicate the child was not the target.

Prosecutors have charged 31-year-old Antonia Wren and 26-year-old Isaiah Ragsdale with multiple felonies in the case. A warrant for Ragsdale’s arrest appears in court records.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to the area of ​​35th Street and Glendale Avenue for reports of a shooting around 9 a.m. that day. When police arrived at the scene, they found a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his right knee. He was taken to a children’s home in Wisconsin.

At the scene of the shooting, law enforcement officers found one shell casing on the steps leading from the sidewalk to the house, and four more shell casings on the street in front of the house. Officers also saw blood on the porch leading to the home.

According to the statement, the police interviewed another victim. She said she broke up with her girlfriend and was woken up the morning of the shooting by her ex-girlfriend knocking on her door. She said she got to the door and saw her ex-girlfriend and Ren.

That victim said she started fighting with her ex-girlfriend, and Wren intervened in the fight, prosecutors said. Wren and Ragsdale then started shooting; Ragsdale got out of the car and fired shots in the air, the victim said.

Court documents say the victim told investigators Wren put a gun to her head and fired, but she moved her head to the side and the shot hit the 13-year-old boy.

Wren and Ragsdale allegedly fled the scene in a black Honda, according to the complaint. The victim said Ragsdale fired additional shots as they drove away.

During the conversation with the police, the 13-year-old boy said that the ex-girlfriend of the other victim showed up at their house. According to him, he went outside to stop a physical fight that had ensued. As he tried to break up the fight, a man and woman, who he later identified as Wren and Ragsdale, attempted to shoot the other victim, after which he was hit in the leg.

Wren appeared in court on Thursday, October 21. Her bond was set at $25,000 and she is charged with the following counts:

  • First degree attempted murder
  • First degree – negligent bodily injury

Court records show a warrant has been issued for Ragsdale’s arrest. He is accused of:

  • Reckless endangerment in the first degree
  • Second degree reckless endangerment
  • Bail (two counts)
