A suspected drunken driver caused a fatal late-night crash

BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – The Bradenton Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving a suspected drunk driver.

According to traffic homicide investigators, at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, Cesar Navarrete, 25, was westbound on Cortez Road in his Nissan Altima, ran a red light, and crashed into the passenger seat of a Chevrolet Equinox. who returned to North 43rd Street West.

The Equinox passenger was taken to the nearest emergency room and died of her injuries this morning. The driver of the Equinox has non-life threatening injuries. Navarrete and a passenger in the Altima were also injured.

BPD arrested Navarrete on an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license.

Investigators suspect Navarrete was in good health at the time of the crash and have conducted an investigation into the malfunction. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
