Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense, said more than 100,000 people, mostly women and children, remain trapped in the besieged northern Gaza Strip.

Speaking Basal described the dire situation to the Lebanese news network Al-Mayadeen on Sunday, where there are no medical services available and the world community, which often supports democratic values, watches Gaza’s suffering without intervening.

Basal said that the Civil Defense Service receives constant calls from residents of the northern part of Gaza, who urgently ask for help in rescuing the wounded and getting the dead out of the rubble.

He said the medical staff in northern Gaza are civilians because Israeli forces are blocking any official medical systems in the area.

Basal also highlighted the critical shortage of food and medicine, saying 137 bodies remain under the rubble of a recently destroyed building in Beit Lahia.

Despite repeated appeals, no international organization has responded to the request of the Civil Defense, according to Bazal.

The spokesman also noted that more than 1,300 deaths have been recorded in northern Gaza since the Israeli blockade began tightening less than a month ago.

The region, including the Jabalia camp and Beit Lahia, has been under siege for 30 days amid continuous air and artillery attacks that have killed or injured thousands and cut the area off from the rest of Gaza.

The United Nations issued a stark warning on Friday about “apocalyptic” conditions in northern Gaza, warning that the population faces an imminent threat of disease, hunger and violence.

Ongoing genocide

Defying a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has faced international condemnation for continuing its brutal offensive on Gaza.

Israel, which is currently on trial at the UN International Court of Justice for genocide against the Palestinians, has been waging a devastating war against Gaza since October 7.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 43,341 Palestinians have been killed and 102,105 wounded during Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

In addition, at least 11,000 people are missing, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes across Gaza.

Israel claims that 1,200 soldiers and civilians were killed during the October 7 flood relief operation in al-Aqsa. Israeli media published reports suggesting that many Israelis were killed by “friendly fire” that day.

Palestinian and international organizations claim that most of the killed and wounded are women and children.

The Israeli war led to a severe famine, mainly in northern Gaza, which resulted in the death of many Palestinians, mostly children.

Israel’s aggression has also led to the violent displacement of nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of displaced people forced into the densely populated southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border – in what has become the largest Palestinian enclave. mass exodus from the Nakba of 1948.

Later in the war, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians began moving from the south to central Gaza in a constant search for safety.
