Mohali: A 26-year-old man died in a road accident at Sector-69

After being hit by a speeding car, the victim’s car crashed into a tree, after which another driver sped away from the scene.

A 26-year-old man was killed and two of his friends were injured after a car rammed into their car from behind on the service lane along Airport Road in Sector 69 on Saturday evening.

As a result of the collision, the victim’s car crashed into a tree, after which another driver sped away from the scene.

Police said he was traveling from Sector 70 to Sector 82 in his Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire with Haryana number plate along with his friends Yadwinder Singh and Harmandeep Singh.

When they entered the service lane opposite the Sohana Gurdwara junction, a speeding car (PB-11-2444) rammed their car from behind causing Avtar to lose control of his car which rammed into a tree.

Avtar died on the spot, his friends received numerous injuries. While his friends were wearing seat belts, Avtar was not, according to police officials familiar with the case.

When eyewitnesses were taking the injured to Sohan Hospital, the accused driver fled the scene.

The police have started a search for the driver, and are also investigating whether the victims were drunk at the time of the accident.

Meanwhile, a case under sections 281 (reckless driving), 106 (1) (causing death by negligence), 125 (endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 324 (1) (offence) has been registered against the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit. driver in hiding.
