FEMA opens a pop-up help page in Seminole County after Hurricane Milton

SEMINOULE COUNTY, FL. – Seminole County residents can now register for disaster recovery assistance on the newly launched FEMA website at the registration pop-up windows at the Winter Springs Civic Center.

Following the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, FEMA declared Seminole County a disaster area.

Those who need assistance can visit the community center, located at 400 N. Edgemon Ave., to sign up for individual assistance or update a previous application.

Program update assistance will be available Friday through Sunday, October 25-27, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Applications can also be submitted online at www.disasterassistance.gov or through FEMA App.

The FEMA Hotline is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week at 1-800-621-3362.

Earlier this month, FEMA opened two new information centers in Orange County at the Beatle Community Center on Washington Avenue and the Apopka City Hall on Main Street. The centers are open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to help residents apply for disaster relief.

During a question and answer session with News 6, Willie Nunn, a senior FEMA official, said 10 FEMA relief centers were open before Hurricane Milton. Now there are 16 of them.

To apply for help, you will need:

  • Your social security number

  • Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you currently live

  • Contact phone number

  • List of damages and losses

  • If insured, policy number and name of agent or company

  • If you want money deposited directly, bank details will be required
