Death charges in Lindale crash: Open bottle of alcohol found in suspect’s car

Accusation A criminal case has been initiated against the accused causing an accident in which a woman diedinjured several more people and damaged several vehicles Minneapolis.

What we know

Law enforcement responded to the fatal crash near the Interstate 94 East exit near Lindale Avenue around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the criminal complaint, the Minnesota State Patrol determined that the Chevy Avalanche caused a chain reaction crash when it struck another SUV approaching Dunwoody Blvd. and then “crashed directly into the rear of the Jeep Cherokee.”

The driver of the Avalanche, identified as Taylon Covey-Carrell Walker, 29, of St. Paul, is charged with one count of vehicular homicide.

The woman driving the Jeep, identified as 26-year-old Natalie Gabbey of Minneapolis, died at the scene.

Officers reportedly found an “open, partially filled bottle of alcohol on the driver’s side floorboard” of the Avalanche.

Details of the accident

According to the complaint, witnesses told law enforcement that Walker was driving about 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash.

The Avalanche reportedly pushed the SUV into the back of a Ford Edge, which then pushed into the back of a Nissan Versa, which pushed a Toyata RAV4, which then hit an Audi Q5.

The complaint states that “the force of the crash caused the two cars to flip 180 degrees to the side.”

Previous offenses

The criminal complaint states that Walker has a prior implied consent license revocation effective June 17, 2021.

Court documents show he was arrested for DWI in 2021, although the case was settled as a reckless driving case.

Walker’s other crimes include disorderly conduct and violating domestic violence orders.

His first court appearance is scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, October 25.

Other victims

A 20-year-old St. Paul woman who was a passenger in the Avalanche reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A 2-year-old boy who was a passenger in the GMC Yukon involved in the crash was also injured but is expected to survive.

A total of 10 people were injured, including Walker, nine were taken to the hospital. A total of seven cars were involved in the accident.
