Voodoo Brewing is the latest addition to the St. Petersburg craft beer scene

After years of waiting and many setbacks, St. Petersburg’s newest brewery has finally opened its doors to the public.

Voodoo Brewing Co., located at 220 Fourth St. N., now offers a wide selection of craft beers, seltzers and cocktails, as well as a full food menu. Formerly home to Orange Blossom Catering, the 7,300-square-foot facility has been transformed into the newest addition to the city’s ever-growing craft beer scene. The property is owned by Michael Andoniades, who also owns the nearby Hollander Hotel.

Bob Skepnek, general manager of Voodoo Brewing Co., described the process leading up to the opening as “a real roller coaster.” He noted that he has been telling people for the past 10 months that the opening is “about six weeks away,” highlighting the many ups and downs along the way.

“I’m lucky we were able to overcome them and here we are with the door open,” he said.

Voodoo Brewing is based in Meadville, Pennsylvania and has more than a dozen breweries across the country. St. Pete is the brewery’s third Florida outpost, with other locations in Jacksonville and Fort Myers.

Location of St. Pete’s combines industrial and traditional design elements, with a lounge and dining area on the second floor that is open to the first floor and includes arcade games and pinball. The dark punk rock vibe is combined with large garage doors that open the ground floor onto the sidewalk.

Skepnek said some of the most popular beers so far have been Oh Mama Golden American Lager, Good Vibes West Coast IPA (pictured) and Voodoo Love Child, a Belgian Tripel.

Voodoo Brewing has 26 taps, with about half featuring Voodoo beers and the other half featuring guest taps, including local favorites like 3 Daughters Brewing’s Beach Blonde Ale and world-renowned beers like Delirium Tremens Belgian Ale.

“Another thing that I think sets us apart in the craft brewing scene in St. Pete is that we have a full kitchen,” added Skepnek. “A lot of our menu is pub food, but we do it at a very high level. Also, there are a few things on the menu that you might not expect at all.”

Voodoo’s menu includes wings, pizza, sandwiches, salads, Beer Mussels (a seared tuna appetizer and a nod to Skepneck’s hometown), and a Chicago Bear sandwich with slow-roasted beef from the pub’s own smokehouse.

In addition to a variety of craft and draft beers, Voodoo Brewing has a menu of about a dozen craft cocktails and cocktails. Skepnek says the menu may expand over time, but for now they’re focused on exceeding customer expectations with their food and service.
