A Hull man has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder

ORANGE CITY, Iowa. A Hull, Iowa man accused of stabbing two men has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and several other charges.

Jorge Gomez Badillo, 28, entered a written plea Thursday in Sioux County District Court to two counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree burglary, second-degree arson, assault while participating in a felony causing aggravated assault, assault while participating in a felony, willful bodily harm resulting in grievous bodily harm, willful bodily harm resulting in bodily harm, interference with official duties, possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabidiol.

Sioux County sheriff’s deputies responding to a disturbance at Fifth and Division streets in Galle on Oct. 14 found two men with stab wounds.

According to court documents, Gomez Badillo chased the men outside the residence with a knife and continued to attack them, stabbing them multiple times. He later told investigators he took care of them because of a crime he saw them commit.

Deputies later reported heavy black smoke coming from Gomez Badillo’s residence nearby at 1429 Division St. Hull and Rock Valley Fire Departments extinguished the fire.

According to court documents, while being examined at the hospital, Gomez Badillo tried to send a message that he was going to kill the family and also threatened to kill the doctor and the deputy.
