An up-and-coming rapper known as Peezy was the victim of a shooting in North Melbourne

The 20-year-old victim of a fatal shooting in Melbourne’s north has been remembered as having a “good heart” and always putting others first, as police continue to investigate the incident.

Pal Bidong was an up-and-coming rapper known as Pizzy in the Melbourne music scene, a sub-genre of hip-hop.

He was found dead with a gunshot wound on Langford Street in North Melbourne about 3.15am on Saturday.

His brother Niot described Mr Bidong as a “sweet, caring person” who people gravitated towards.

“He was someone you could talk to for hours, no matter what it was,” he said.

Niot said his brother had star quality and used his love of music to encourage and inspire others.

“To all of us and the people who knew him, he was already the greatest, and he just wanted to be the greatest in the world.”

Niot said his family is trying to be strong and stick together.

Mr. Bidong’s music manager, Iltaf Alessandro, paid tribute to Mr. Bidong, saying he was loved by many and will be missed.

“He was one of a kind, had a beautiful heart and was always there for his loved ones,” he said.

“Influencing kids to pursue their dreams and crush their goals.

“He was very dedicated to music and worked every day to make a difference.

“He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.”

There was no arrest

Victoria Police Acting Inspector Alan Rumble said extra patrols had been deployed in the area on Saturday.

He said the offenders had not yet been identified or arrested, but there was “nothing to indicate an immediate risk to the public”.

Camera footage taken after the shooting showed a chaotic scene as people fought in the street.

The operator said he was attacked and his glasses were broken.

“There were a lot of people in the area and emotions were high,” Acting Inspector Rumble said.

“We urge these witnesses to contact the police.”
