Players to watch and final score prediction

Doug Pederson’s job is on the line and he needs wins. The Eagles are, too, if they want to keep pace with NFC East leaders Washington.

Here’s more on Sunday’s game (4:05/CBS).

FIVE PLAYERS TO WATCH

Isaiah Rogers. That’s where the depth that GM Howie Roseman made in the offseason should pay off. With Darius Slay missing the game with a groin injury, it was nice to see Rodgers complete a deep throw to Ja’Marr Chase in last week’s win over the Bengals, deflecting the ball into the safe hands of C.J. Gardner-Johnson. interception

“I approach it like any other week,” Rodgers said. “I’m not going to make this moment too big. It’s not about me, it’s about the team. After all, Slay is our captain, Slay is our starter. I’m just going to go in there and try to make as many plays as he did.”

Jalen Hurts. The quarterback played three consecutive games without a loss and scored nine touchdowns during that period. He’s probably that good again against a Jags pass defense that’s one of the worst in the league, checking in at No. 31 overall. He is the only NFL quarterback with nine TDs and no losses since Week 6.

AJ Brown. He leads the team in receiving yards (408) despite missing three games and has 21 catches for an average of 19.4 yards per catch, matching his career high of 20. 2 yards per catch he had in his rookie 2019 season with the Titans. His 102 yards per game average is second in the league behind Nico Collins (113.4).

Jaylen Carter. The second-year DT is tied with Josh Pott for the sack lead with three. According to Pro Football Focus, he posted the third-best passer rating (85.5) among all interior linemen behind Chris Jones (91.2) and Cameron Gayward (86.8).

Cooper De Jean

Cooper De Jean. why Because his development has been fun to watch and the stop he made on Ja’Marr Chase’s fourth down was a sight to see as he followed Chase back and forth as Chase moved.

“Just looking at my guy,” DeJean said of the play he made. “When you’re a man and a guy starts moving, there’s always a chance he might go back, you know?”

“So I’m just trying to keep my eyes on him and be able to work through traffic to be able to get over. And luckily, Isaiah, who he was playing with his man, allowed me to come up behind him and be able to come down to play.”

QUESTION

-Can the Eagles extend their winning streak to four and go 6-2 with two divisional games — the Cowboys on Nov. 10 and the Commanders on Nov. 14 — during the four-day wait for the opposing side?

-Can Doug Pederson beat the organization he led to a Super Bowl title? He is 0-1 against Philly while playing for the Jags.

-Can the Eagles win the battle for a turnover for the second week in a row after taking the ball away from the Bengals twice and not giving it up last week?

FORESIGHT

My choices aren’t going too well, so take that with a grain of salt. Yes, the Eagles have the Cowboys waiting on the other sideline, it could be a so-called trap game, but this is only their third game at Lincoln Financial Field this season, where they are 1-1 and need to cook at home to win the division.

Eagles 29, Jaguars 23.

Season record: 2-5.
