INDIA bloc files complaint against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma for ‘inflammatory’ remarks in Jharkhand, he responds

INDIA bloc leaders on Saturday lodged a complaint against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jharkhand, accusing the BJP leader of making “provocative and controversial” speeches during a recent election rally in the state.

During his speech on November 1 in Sarat, the BJP leader said, “These people will vote in one place, but our Hindus will vote half here and half there.” He also noted: “This government is inviting criminals because a special community will vote for them.”

Referring to these remarks, the INDIA bloc in a letter to the director-general said: “His use of extremely divisive and hateful language targeting Muslim minorities” is an example of “poisonous language used to create a civil war-like situation and incite violence in the country”. upcoming parliamentary elections”.

The complaint also highlighted other contradictory statements allegedly made by Sarma on various grounds.

“He deliberately paints all members of a particular religious minority as infiltrators to exploit and deepen existing social divisions for political gain, create communal tension and destroy the social fabric of Jharkhand for electoral gains,” the letter said.

The INDIA block also provided Sarma’s tapes, allegedly alleging that Hemant Soren’s government in Jharkhand was supporting Bangladeshi infiltrators.

“This dangerous tactic not only undermines the democratic process but also violates the fundamental structure of our Constitution and goes against the various court orders and judgments passed by the Supreme Court against hate speech,” the leaders of the INDIA bloc said.

Sarma, however, responded by questioning why the INDIA bloc was filing complaints against him for speaking about the perpetrators.

“Why complain about me? what am i saying Why does it hurt when I speak out against abusers? Where is it written, in which law, that you cannot speak against intruders?” asked the Chief Minister of Assam.

He further stated, “Talking about Hindus does not mean targeting Muslims. I don’t even mention the word “Muslim”. India is a Hindu civilization, and talking about its protection is positive…”

Meanwhile, Kushwaha BSP leader Shivpujan Mehta, who is contesting from Hussainabad, filed a separate complaint in court against Sarma for allegedly violating the communal accord.

During an election rally in Hussainabad, Sarma said the division in Palamu district would become a constituency if the BJP came to power after the assembly elections and would be named after Lord Ram or Krishna.

The Jharkhand Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 13 and 20 to elect 81 MPs.
