Maryland State Parks Host First-Ever Mushroom Festival

SNOW HILL, Maryland. Maryland’s Pocomoke River State Park hosted its first ever Mushroom Festival on Saturday.

There were family activities such as hay rides, games and live music, as well as interactive and educational presentations.

Local artists and craftsmen presented works related to mushrooms. Some have believed that taking the time to appreciate and learn about little things like the easily forgotten world of mushrooms can change the way you look at your surroundings.

“Mushrooms are so cool because they come in all shapes and sizes, just like people…Anyone can go and look at a mountain or a waterfall and say, “Oh, that’s pretty!”, but if you take the time to stop and look at the beauty and the little things that we all overlook every day, you’d be surprised how much beauty is all around us,” said photographer Dana Montoya.
