In the Martinsville race in the first week of AprilHendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson took the top spot with a lap time of 19.718 seconds and a speed of just over 96 mph. However, his teammate William Byron took the win, leading 88 of the 415 laps.

Larson and Chase Elliott filled out the rest of the podium for Hendrick’s sweep of the franchise’s 40th anniversary. It was Byron’s third win of the season and moved him into third place in the drivers’ championship standings, tied with Denny Hamlin.

All three Chevrolet drivers have qualified for the playoffs and will compete at Ridgeway this weekend with five other top drivers — Joe Gibbs’ Hamlin and Christopher Bell, Penske’s Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano and Tyler Reddick as the sole entry for 23XI Racing.

Reddick wins at Homestead-Miami Speedway, joining Logano in the official Championship 4 field following the controversial disqualification of fellow Hendrick driver Alex Bowman a week earlier at Charlotte after his Chevy was deemed “too light” to compete.

The remaining two spots are still up for grabs in Martinsville, with Bell holding a 29-point lead over the playoff mark and Byron sitting just outside the door.
