San Antonio on high alert for pink cocaine, new deadly drug

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. The Drug Enforcement Agency is warning people about a drug with potentially deadly side effects.

It’s called “pink cocaine” and it’s already here in Texas.

Law enforcement is watching closely to see if this drug makes its way to San Antonio.

With its pink color and sweet scent, it may look cute, but this powder is anything but innocent pleasure.

Pink cocaine is becoming a household name for law enforcement agencies across the country. Authorities in Bexar County and San Antonio remain vigilant.

Abigail Moore is CEO of the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, or SACADA, and her concern is more for young people who may be intrigued by the emergence of drugs.

Authorities across the country have come face-to-face with the hallucinogen, and now it has made its way to the Lone Star state.

DEA agents in Houston reported cases in Harris, Hays and Travis counties

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has not reported any cases, but they are keeping their eyes open as the number rises across the country.

So far, the DEA has seized a total of 960 “exhibits” of pink cocaine since 2020.

Special Agent O’Neill urges anyone who comes into contact with the drug to contact the police immediately.
