“I grew up here at racetracks all over the country, but I never went out here without him. So it’s been strange to be here without my family since June, so my team and all these guys and everyone at John Force Racing – everyone in our pits – is like family to me. I am lucky to have and support them.

“To get the family back, to get my dad back, I’m really happy for him. I think it’s great for him. He’s been pushing through physical therapy, he’s been focused and he’s been committed to it and we’re really proud of him, but I think , that he should be here with his old routine, with the fans, with his teams, standing on the racetrack.

“I’m happy to be here with him and really proud to have performed well and put a killer number on the board. I wish we could have gotten there in that last stint, but it was pretty cool to do it with him behind our car.”

She continued:

“I wasn’t nervous. It’s normal nerves that come with … I was out of the seat for a couple of weeks and my dad came up and wished me luck and it made me happy that he went. I definitely missed him coming and wished me luck
