Two dead in apparent murder-suicide in north St. Louis

St. LOUIS. St. Louis police are investigating the apparent deaths of a man and woman in the Walnut Park neighborhood.

The shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 5500 block of Goodfellow Boulevard, police said. Inside the home, police found 49-year-old Truman Nelson Jr. and 42-year-old Martina Peeler in the bedroom of the home. Both Nelson Jr. and Peeler were shot.

Paramedics pronounced Nelson Jr. and Peeler dead at the scene.

Police say they found a gun near Nelson Jr.’s body, and investigators believe he shot Peeler before shooting himself.
