Strictly fans issue complaints about a recurring trend | TV and radio Show business and television

Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to complain minutes after Saturday night’s episode when they spotted the trend.

The last part BBC In one show, which is dedicated to the icons for the first time, 10 other celebrities and their professional partners danced to music legends.

In addition to the iconic tribute, Sunday’s results show will feature professional dancers performing a Beyoncé track, with Johannes Radebe impersonating star Sasha Fierce.

In keeping with the special week, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse donned costumes to pay homage to their icons.

Still, fans were quick to voice their opinions, especially since last week saw the panel and the stars dress up for Halloween. Taking to Twitter, now X, one viewer commented: “Oh can we just not use themed weeks #Strictly”, another tweeted: “We don’t need fancy dresses EVERY week #strictly”, while a third shared: “I agree now it’s getting funny,” he reports Mirror.

The show started with Pete Weeks the embodiment of Freddie Mercury paired with Jovita Przysta in a lively salsa to “Another One Bites The Dust”. elsewhere Winn Evans and Katya Jones paid tribute to Shirley Bassey with a sultry rumba to the song This is My Life and Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin noted Taylor Swift from American Smooth to Love Story.

This week’s performances saw a notable change as professional dancer Lauren Oakley partnered the JLS star JB Gill37, after his original co-star Amy Dowden, 34, fell ill during filming last weekend.

Amy is said to be “feeling much better” after health concerns forced her to miss Sunday’s results program after being taken to hospital and she has missed this week’s competition.

A Strictly spokesperson said on Monday: “Amy Dowden MBE is doing much better and the Strictly family send her their love and best wishes.

“She is delighted that fellow pro dancer Lauren Oakley can take part in rehearsals and perform in Saturday’s show for JB Gilldance of the couple’s choice. We all hope Amy is back to dance with JB next week.”

The dancer returned to the show this year after undergoing treatment for stage three breast cancer, including a mastectomy and chemotherapy. Amy revealed in February that tests showed she had “no symptoms of the disease”.

Strictly dance continues this Saturday at BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
