Authorities are searching for a possible explosive device in Stillwater

On Saturday morning, law enforcement officers searched the hotel and the car for a possible explosive device.

According to the Stillwater Police Department, the search began after the arrest in Oak Park Heights Friday night.

While Stillwater police could not comment on the first arrest, they said the vehicle associated with the arrest was towed to Stillwater.

However, authorities later learned that the car may have contained improvised explosive devices.

The St. Paul Explosive Squad was called to clear the vehicle, as well as the Stillwater hotel where the arrestee was staying.

The Stillwater Police Department said bomb squads were working to clear the vehicle and the hotel.

Stillwater police said there is no immediate threat to the public and the area is considered safe and the suspect remains in custody.
