Man seriously injured in Droylsden attack after ‘car chase’

A man was seriously injured after he was “assaulted with a weapon” following what police believe was a car chase and subsequent crash.

Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to a tram stop in Edge Lane, Droylsden, at around 8.10pm GMT on Friday.

Police said preliminary inquiries had seen two high-speed cars heading towards Manchester, “it is believed to have been a pursuit”.

“The vehicle then crashed and the man inside was attacked,” police added.

No one was arrested, the man remains in hospital.

Deputy Chief Inspector Anna Barker said: “We are currently investigating the circumstances of last night’s violent incident.”

According to her, “several officers” were involved in the investigation.

“Although the man suffered serious injuries, we are fortunate that we are not talking about an even more serious outcome and we are determined to find those responsible,” she added.

Anyone with information should contact Greater Manchester Police.
