A shooting in Dinkytown left three people injured on Friday and authorities are investigating

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9)Authorities are investigating Dinkytown shooting three people were injured early Friday morning.

What we know

SAFE-U Emergency Alert said three people were shot at the intersection of 4th Street Southeast and 13th Avenue Southeast around 2:15 a.m.

Minneapolis police say they are investigating a triple shooting after officers responded to gunfire heard at an intersection. At the scene, police found a 22-year-old man with “at least one” non-life-threatening gunshot wound. After that, the man was taken to the hospital.

“My bouncer went to the window and saw a bunch of ambulances outside,” Camden Castillo-Toren, bar manager at Burrito Loco, told FOX 9. “They put up warning tapes and stuff.”

Later, shortly before 2:30 a.m., an 18-year-old man was taken to M Health Fairview Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said. The 17-year-old boy was then taken to Hennepin Healthcare with “at least one” gunshot wound.

Authorities say at least one physical altercation involving multiple people occurred near the intersection of 4th Street Southeast and 13th Avenue Southeast.

Castillo-Toren told FOX 9 he’s used to it happening every night in the neighborhood where he works.

“Actually, the manager left earlier because it was getting dangerous. Like a year or two ago, we were also shot at… We had bullets,” Castillo-Toren said.

“I think it’s incredibly sad. College students often come here to hang out, have fun and relax on the weekends when they’re not studying,” said Noah Ginster, a former student at the University of Minnesota.

But while some are wary of the area, others say they don’t care.

“For me, I don’t really feel safe because I feel like when something like this happens, it’s not when I go outside,” Riley said.

No arrests have been made yet.
