Barack Obama and the stars are helping Kamala Harris get votes in Georgia

Keeping Democratic turnout high is critical to Harris’ chances for the presidency.

But at James L. Holford Stadium in suburban Atlanta, the enthusiasm was palpable. Harris held a rally in DeKalb County, a solid Democratic stronghold that has been critical to the party’s success in Georgia.

Addressing a crowd of more than 20,000 mostly black voters, speaker after speaker pointed to Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump’s past behavior as the reason Georgians rejected his candidacy.

Warnock pointed to Trump’s previous history of spreading a conspiracy theory that Obama was not born in the United States.

And he referred to Trump’s claims about the Central Park Five, a group of black and Hispanic men who were wrongfully convicted of attacking a jogger in 1989 and released years later.

“I don’t believe there’s going to be such a wave … (this) significant number of black people are going to vote for Donald Trump,” Warnock said.

Perry, an actor and producer, picked up where Warnock left off.

“There is no dream like mine in Donald Trump’s America,” he said.
