Pirate sandwich

Security guard who rented neon green Cybertruck on car-sharing app Turo appears to have served justice arms, chasing the pirate from the driveway, knocking them off the road and crashing into a nearby tree.

Footage of a strange event, shared Cybertruck owner Stephen Phelps on Facebookshows a pick-up truck driver speeding up after spotting a person running towards his vehicle with what appears to be a package in his hands.

Seconds later, the Cybertruck catches up to the defendant’s black sedan in the pirate’s driveway, preventing it from making a left turn and causing it to crash into a nearby tree. The Cybertruck then crashes into the back of the pirate’s vehicle from the driveway — or makes “a robber’s car and a tree sandwich,” as Phelps put it.

A separate shot, recorded by what appears to be the smart doorbell of the Cybertruck renter, shows the accused thief running to his car. A few seconds later, a green Cybertruck can be seen in the distance. The clip ends with an ominous crash as the black car crashes into a tree.

“About to find out how good T(uro) insurance is…” Phelps wrote in his post. “Hopefully everything will work out, but it will be one car for a while.”

Ram

It is still unclear what exactly was in the stolen package, which could have caused the reckless pursuit and destruction of private property.

“Looks like their neighborhood has been having trouble with burglaries all week,” Phelps wrote further comment.

Phelps also said that “it was an $800 rental from Friday to Monday.”

In addition to justice, Phelps — and most likely the driver of his Cybertruck — has a mountain of paperwork to deal with. It is unclear whether insurance will cover the damage.

To make matters worse, Tesla’s brutal pickup truck has already earned a reputation almost impossible to repair. Unless the automaker decides to give Phelps a brand new car, it’s likely the truck won’t be drivable for a long time.

Additionally, the Cybertruck driver may be considered to have endangered the life of the would-be thief, which can make the situation much more complicated.

Meanwhile, users on the Cybertruck Owners Forum watched the footage in horror — and at least a little amusement.
