The 2024 New York City Marathon will take place on Sunday, bringing runners from around the world to the Big Apple for the platinum-level event.

Last year, Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia crossed the finish line first in 2:04:58, while Hellen Obiri was the first female in 2:27:23.

In the wheelchair race, Marcel Hoog finished first overall for the men in 1:25:29 and Kathryn Debrunner finished in the women’s race in 1:39:32.

They topped their categories, which included 51,402 finishers, the third most in history.

This year, the riders will be participating with different goals.

Some will be looking to win, looking to etch their name into the history books alongside last year’s winners. Others will try to beat personal bests or even just complete the run and cross it off their bucket lists.
