In 2018, the economic aggregate of the region’s three provinces and one city accounted for 23.9 percent of the total in the country. It has risen to 24.4 percent by 2023, effectively increasing by 0.1 percentage point each year.

By last year, R&D investment accounted for 3.34 percent of the Yangtze River Delta’s total GDP, compared with 2.81 percent in 2018.
