WhatsApp introduces its own lists to help sort your chats: Here’s how to use the feature

WhatsApp is now making it easier to sort through the clutter in your DMs with the new Custom Lists feature. Custom lists allow users to filter their contacts in various customizable categories, essentially clearing out the inbox, while also giving you the ability to add important conversations to a separate category.

How to add special filters on WhatsApp?

New custom filters can be added in addition to the existing All, Unread, Favorites, and Groups lists available on WhatsApp. A custom list can be added by tapping the “+” icon in the filter bar. WhatsApp allows users to add any of their own names to lists like family, friends, annoying relatives, etc. without letting the person on the other end know that they are part of a custom list.

WhatsApp also allows users to edit a list, such as adding or removing contacts or changing its name, by long-pressing on a specific list in the filter panel. Users can create up to 20 custom lists, and WhatsApp allows them to add group and individual chats to any list they create.

A new feature from WhatsApp could come in handy for power users who use the app for business or work, giving them the ability to separate their personal and professional lives in one app.

WhatsApp says it has already started rolling out the Custom Lists feature to all users. Don’t worry though, if like me you haven’t received the new update yet, private messaging platform Meta says that all WhatsApp users will get access to the feature in the coming weeks.
