A man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a retired FOX10 News chief meteorologist

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – A Mobile man pleaded guilty to assaulting retired FOX10 News Chief Meteorologist John Edd Thompson.

Neilson Kane made a plea about elder abuse and neglect. He confessed to the assault, which was caught on surveillance camera at the Murphy USA gas station on University Boulevard on July 25, 2023.

Thompson and his wife stopped for gas after dinner to celebrate his 81st birthday.

The video shows Kane pushing Thompson to the ground and punching him.

Thompson said the man wanted $2.

Cain’s sentencing is scheduled for December. He faces from two to 20 years in prison.
