FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WOLO)– Fairfield County Deputies arrested a woman in connection with a credit card fraud case, the sheriff’s office said.

On Oct. 16, several Winnsboro residents reported unauthorized credit card charges using CVS.

Fairfield County deputies identified CVS employee Shy’Lexis Coleman as the person involved in the incident.

Investigators say they have seen surveillance footage showing Coleman discreetly taking pictures of the victim’s card.

During her arrest, Coleman admitted that she had several pictures of other credit cards on her phone.

Deputies believe that others may be involved and are continuing the investigation.

People are encouraged to review their statements regularly and report any suspicious activity immediately.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind residents of important steps to take to protect your financial information:

1. Keep your card in sight: Be careful when handing over your credit or debit card. If possible, keep it in sight during transactions.
2. Watch for suspicious behavior: Pay attention if someone takes your card out of your line of sight or near their personal devices.
3. Monitor transactions regularly: Check your bank statements and set up alerts to quickly spot any unauthorized charges.
4. Report suspicious activity: If you notice any unauthorized transactions, contact your card issuer immediately and report it to local authorities.
By staying vigilant, you can protect yourself from fraud. A little caution goes a long way
