Knoxville police are searching for a suspect in a fatal crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a crash on Magnolia Avenue Friday night.

KPD said officers responded to Magnolia Avenue at Mary Street around 7:45 p.m., where a pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a car.

Despite life-saving efforts, KPD said the victim, an adult male, was pronounced dead after being transported from the scene. It is not installed.

The vehicle involved in the fatal incident left the area before officers arrived on the scene, heading east on Magnolia Avenue. KPD believes the vehicle was a black SUV or crossover driven by a white male.

According to the KPD, the suspect has not been located or identified. Anyone with information that could assist the ongoing investigation is asked to call the East Tennessee State Crime Squad at 865-215-7165.
