16-year-old girl in critical condition after shooting in Kalispell

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on a charge of attempted first degree murder after a shooting in Kalispell Thursday afternoon.

The Kalispell Police Department says the 16-year-old girl who was injured in the shooting underwent surgery Thursday.

Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio told MTN Friday afternoon that the victim was in critical condition.

The name of the suspect is not being released at this time due to his age.

KPD responded to a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of South Meridian Road at approximately 3:20 pm Thursday.

One person was arrested after a shooting Thursday afternoon in Kalispell.

Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio says officers responded to the 400 block of South Meridian Road for a shooting that happened around 3:20 p.m.

One person was taken to Logan Health for treatment.

KPD took the suspect into custody and Venezio said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and did not pose any danger to the public.

There is a heavy police presence in the area while investigations continue.

Venezio said in a press release that more information will be released as it becomes available.
