MADD honors local leaders at annual breakfast

WARWICK, Rhode Island (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and The Tori Lynn Andreozzi Foundation came together Friday morning to honor the heroes who protect Rhode Islanders from impaired drivers.

12 News’ Shannon Gagey hosted the breakfast, which was held at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.

MADD presented the Excellence in Service Award to both Andrew Tynch of the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) and Colin Judge of Rhode Island Student Services.

RIDOT Director Peter Alviti received the Ripple Effect Award, named after the department safe driving campaign with the same title, and Attorney General Peter Neronha was recognized for passing “Retrospective DUI bill.”

Police officers from Bristol, Charlestown, Coventry, Cranston, Cumberland, Hopkinton, Johnston, Lincoln, Middletown, Narragansett, Newport, North Providence, Pawtucket, Portsmouth, Providence, Richmond, Scituate, South Kingstown, Tiverton, Warren, Warwick, Westerly and Woonsocket were recognized with DUI Achievement Pins, as were several Rhode Island paratroopers.
