Man accused of shooting pregnant woman and leaving her for dead pleads guilty

JANESVILLE, WI. A Janesville man accused of shooting his pregnant girlfriend on April 17 pleaded guilty Friday.

Logan Barkley, 23, pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide in the death of Kirsten Hansen, 22, of Janesville.

According to the criminal complaint, Barclay and Hansen had a child together. Hansen’s mother recognized Barclay as her daughter’s on-again, off-again boyfriend.

Hansen was found dead along the Peace Trail off Afton Road in Janesville on April 17. Two women walking along the path saw her kneeling by a tree. According to the complaint, officers found some personal items near her body, including an iPhone charger, but her wallet and cellphone were missing.

Barclay’s sentencing hearing is set for February 11, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.
