A man accused of a 2022 Peoria murder has pleaded guilty

PEORIA (25News now) – A man accused in a 2022 Peoria shooting that left one person dead has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Lamarion C. Wright, 19, pleaded guilty Friday, the Peoria County District Attorney’s Office said.

The The shooting year is 2022 Christopher L. Tillman, 46, died. It happened on September 20, 2022 near Taft Homes in Peoria.

It was Peoria’s 18th homicide of the year.

Around 9 p.m. on September 20, Peoria police were called to the 600 block of Northeast Adams Street and found Tillman shot four times – three times in the back and once in the right arm.

He later died in hospital.

Surveillance video later obtained by police showed Wright, identified by a police officer and a witness, running after Tillman with a gun in his hand and shooting him.

Wright was 16 at the time of the murder, and was automatically charged as an adult because of his age and the charges.

His sentence was capped at 50 years in exchange for a guilty plea.

He will be sentenced on December 30.
