Gunshots Hear, Juveniles Flee During Halloween Night Riot in Wellington: PBSO

Juveniles fled after gunshots were allegedly heard while responding to a man with a gun in Wellington’s Olympia community on Halloween night.

Around 9:45 p.m., the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) said deputies responded to a call from Olympia security about a person with a gun inside the clubhouse at Fatio Boulevard and Sherson Boulevard. However, when deputies arrived, it appeared to be nothing more than a verbal altercation, which was confirmed by juveniles and security officers at the scene. Additionally, deputies spoke with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) officers who confirmed the incident was purely verbal and did not involve any weapons.

While on scene, PBSO said deputies received another report of a physical altercation between a group of juveniles nearby. As they searched the area, deputies reported hearing gunshots, causing crowds of juveniles to leave the area. Despite the commotion, PBSO said no injuries or casualties were reported.

Additional assistants were dispatched to manage the crowd and search for potential victims, witnesses and evidence. A witness reported seeing several juveniles fighting at the intersection and, while trying to record the incident on his cell phone, heard two gunshots but did not see the shooter or a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information or video footage is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477).
